toward the concession booth, flying past sales and marketing Director Valerie Hurst.

Despite a half-full 29,000-square-foot space, she said it was a slow day.

Kids played dodge ball or basketball, or dove into foam pits, all while jumping on small squares of huge trampolines. But the park isn’t geared exclusively toward children.

The latest in the Columbus-based, nine-city franchise, Westlake’s location will begin offering aerobics classes at the end of August. Dodge ball teams also are being formed.

Having already begun hosting corporate events, Hurst recalled the latest, a few days after the grand opening July 21.

“Yesterday the FAA was in,” she said. “The air traffic controllers were here.”

In addition to corporate parties, Sky Zone will also host birthday parties, school field trips, fundraising events and after-proms, including that of Westlake High School.

And each Saturday night, those age 16 and older can take advantage of a package that includes 90 minutes of jump time and two slices of pizza.

Hurst stood in front of the main court, which can accommodate 64 jumpers, and explained that the park is “about family fun and fitness.”

The most important point Hurst stressed is the waiver that must be signed for those under 18. Parents or guardians who won’t be accompanying their children to the park, she said, can submit the waiver through Sky Zone’s website.

With open hours beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturdays and noon during the week, and going as late as midnight, those interested in planning a visit have plenty of options.
