Former Fairview BOE president seeking Westlake school board seat

By Kevin Kelley

Brad Lamb, who served as president of the Fairview Park City Schools Board of Education in 2010 and 2011, is seeking election to the Westlake City School Boards of Education this November. Lamb is one of three candidates running for two four-year terms on the Westlake school board.

Lamb, who works as a bailiff for Judge Rob McClelland at the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas, resigned from the Fairview Park school board in May 2012 when he moved outside of the city.

Lamb, who managed the unsuccessful campaign of Republican Matt Dolan for county executive in 2010, was first elected to the Fairview Park school board in November 2006 to complete an unexpired term. He then ran unopposed for full terms in 2007 and 2011.

At the same Nov. 5 election in which Lamb is seeking a seat on the Westlake school board, a special election will take in Fairview Park to elect someone to complete the two years remaining on Lamb’s term there. Katie Davis is running unopposed in that race.

Lamb also serves on Westlake’s Planning Commission.

Barb Leszynski, who was appointed to the Westlake school board in March 2012 to fill a vacancy caused by the resignation of Andrea Rocco, is seeking election to a full, four-year term Nov. 5. She is a retired North Olmsted Middle School teacher.

Leszynski’s three children graduated from Westlake High School, and four grandchildren currently attend Westlake City Schools. Her daughter is an elementary intervention specialist with the Westlake City Schools.

John Finucane, who served as treasurer for current board member Tony Falcone’s successful 2011 campaign, is also running. The president of PartnerShip LLC, a Westlake firm that provides shipping services to small businesses, Finucane applied for the vacant board seat to which Leszynski was appointed.

Finucane holds a bachelor’s degree in business/management from John Carroll University and a master’s degree in business administration from Baldwin Wallace University.
