Ristorante Stella Mia recently arrived in Westlake, bringing with it the flavors of Italy prepared with a contemporary twist.
Located in the Kensington Square Shopping Center on Center Ridge Road, Stella Mia is the vision of the Nanut family, owners of Rino’s Italian Restaurant in Lorain. The seasonal menu is a blend of Mediterranean and modern European cuisine. The summer bill of fare offers some light dishes, as well as a number of salads and New York-style, thin crust pizzas. Every dish is made to order from family recipes, using fresh, unprocessed, local ingredients.
Appetizers include fried calamari, Hungarian peppers stuffed with homemade sausage and bruschetta pomidoro. Summer salad offerings are Caesar with shrimp or chicken, caprese with fresh mozzarella, basil and tomatoes, a grilled vegetable salad with balsamic vinaigrette, and grilled salmon with strawberries, asparagus and blood orange vinaigrette. Pasta selections range from three-cheese lasagna al forno to potato gnocchi alla Siciliana tossed with eggplant, bell peppers, artichokes, olives and homemade marinara. Pasta dishes can be ordered with wheat and gluten-free noodles. Stella Mia is offering 25 percent off pasta dishes as an opening special.
Seafood lovers will enjoy scallops with pancetta over saffron risotto, or the zuppa di pesce with a variety of seafood in lobster broth. Norwegian salmon is roasted in sea salt and served on a bed of olives, tomatoes and shallots in bean ragu with citrus beurre blanc.
Chicken or veal scaloppini Marsala is simmered with wild mushrooms in a sweet wine sauce over angel hair pasta. Vitello Romano is a bone-in veal chop, hand-breaded with Italian cheeses. Pollo di Involtini is free-range chicken breast, rolled in prosciutto, mozzarella and baby spinach, egg-battered and pan-seared with mushroom wine demiglace. The Stella Mia filet is an eight-ounce steak wrapped in pancetta and grilled, served with mushroom risotto and Gorgonzola cheese.
A dozen different specialty pizzas are offered, starting with the Stella Mia, which is a thin, stone-oven pizza topped with fig jam, Gorgonzola cheese, arugula and prosciutto di Parma. The Mista is prepared with basil pesto, pear chutney, pancetta and provolone and feta cheeses. The Frutti di Mare pizza is garnished with tomato, shrimp, scallops, clams, mussels and fresh herbs. Cheese calzones are available. Patrons can also order sheet pepperoni pizza with 24-hour notice.
The European-style Sunday brunch menu will offer a variety of international cuisine such as chicken paprikash, stuffed cabbage and homemade crepes.
