FRESHEN UP FAIRIVEW: The Fairview Park Green Team is seeking volunteers to help spruce up the city’s parks and other locations. Saturday is “Freshen Up Fairview Day.” From 9 a.m. to noon, volunteers will pick up litter, rake areas of parks or pick up branches. Others will do weeding and edging. Green Team members say the project is a great opportunity for students who need to fulfill community service obligations.
Volunteers are asked to bring gloves, pruners, rakes, shovels for edging and a bottle of water. Individuals wishing to volunteer should simply show up at City Hall at 9 a.m. Saturday. Leaders of groups wishing to participate are asked to send an e-mail in advance to email@example.com.
West Life reported on the project in its May 1 issue; that article can be found online at westlifenews.com. More information about Saturday’s effort can be found on the city’s website at www.fairviewpark.org/freshen-up-fairview-park.html.
