Westlake fencer competed at NCAA Midwest Regional Championships

Westlake native and Cleveland State University (CSU) Men’s foilist John Cuturic has finished a stellar junior season for the Vikings, competing at the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships at Notre Dame University over the weekend.

Cuturic has had a strong 2013 season for CSU, surpassing his 43 wins of last year with his regular season record of 59 wins against 43 losses. In addition to achieving a perfect record at the Case Western University Duals (15 – 0), Cuturic won 14 matches against only four losses at the CSU Duals, went 13-5 at the Notre Dame University Duals and represented the Vikings at the Midwest Conference Championships.

Cuturic is currently ranked an ‘E 2011’ by the United States Fencing Association and trains out of Cyrano’s Place Fencing Club in Lakewood, and has regularly made the Dean’s list for academic excellence at Cleveland State.
