Renacci’s staff to hold office hours at Porter library Monday

By Kevin Kelley

Staffers from the office of U.S. Rep. Jim Renacci will be available to address constituents’ questions and concerns from noon to 2 p.m. Monday in the conference room at Westlake Porter Public Library, 27333 Center Ridge Road, in Westlake.

This “mobile office,” as Renacci’s office calls it, will provide constituents the opportunity to seek the congressman’s assistance on issues ranging from Medicare and veterans’ benefits to Social Security and federal tax matters. Renacci himself will not be present during the library office hours.

“This mobile office will provide residents of the 16th District an opportunity to meet with members of my staff and discuss matters that are important to them,” Renacci said in a statement. “Providing constituent services is a responsibility I take very seriously.”

In the Westshore, the redrawn 16th Congressional District includes Westlake, North Olmsted, Fairview Park, Olmsted Falls, Olmsted Township and part of Rocky River. It extends south, through Strongsville to Wadsworth and Wooster. The district includes all of Wayne County and sections of five other counties.

Yesterday, the Republican congressman held an open house to mark the opening of his new district office in Wadsworth, the city where Renacci served as mayor from 2004 to 2008. Renacci’s intent is to have the district office be located at the geographical center of the district. Previously, the office was in Canton.

Shawn Ryan, Renacci’s press spokesman, said the opening of a satellite office in Cuyahoga County is under consideration but depends on the budget for congressional office expenses.

“We’d love to do it,” Ryan said. “We just don’t know if we’ll have the money for it.”

In the meantime, Renacci’s staff provides the mobile office hours as a means of assisting constituents.

“These mobile offices are done as a way to bring members of our Wadsworth office staff closer to our constituents,” Ryan said. “We realize that Wadsworth is a heck of a lot closer to your neck of the woods than Canton but that some constituents have a hard time traveling that distance.”

No appointment is necessary to speak with Renacci’s staff members for Monday’s mobile office hours.
