Congratulations to Rocky River junior Jackson Farling and Magnificat juniors Ali Nageotte and Cara Kelley; and sophomore Jillian Hollis for being named to the Northeast Ohio Golf Coaches Association All-Northeast District team. Farling was named to the Boys Division I second-team. Nageotte and Hollis were named to the Girls Division I first-team and Kelley was named to the Girls Division I second-team.
Westlake Graduate Maeve Goede Selected Second Team All-UAA
Case Western Reserve University women’s soccer senior defender Maeve Goede (Westlake, Ohio/Westlake) is one of four Spartans named to the 2012 All-University Association team.
Goede, a four-year starter, picks up her first All-Association nod. She ranks tied for sixth in program history with 69 starts and tied for fifth with 72 matches played. In 2011, she was a key cog in a backline that recorded a program-record 11 shutouts. Statistically, she accumulated eight points via a trio of scores and two helpers.
The Spartans, nationally-ranked early in the season, concluded the 2012 campaign with an 8-6-4 record and 2-4-1 mark during the ultra-competitive conference season.
Four Ohio Wesleyan University women’s soccer players named All-NCAC
Senior midfielder Jessie Huschart (Columbus/Hilliard Davidson) and sophomore defender Sarah Stachowiak (Westlake) were first-team all-conference picks, while junior midfielder Emily Sattler (Marysville) and sophomore defender Emma Markey (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) were honorable mention choices.
Huschart led the Bishops in scoring with 6 goals and 2 assists for 14 points. The 6 goals is tied for fifth in the NCAC, while the 14 points is tied for fourth among league scorers. Huschart was a second-team All-NCAC selection in 2011 and an honorable mention All-NCAC pick in 2009.
Stachowiak led a Bishop defense that compiled four shutouts and allowed 26 goals during the 2012 season. She was a first-team All-NCAC selection in 2011 and was named the conference’s Newcomer of the Year.
Sattler scored 2 goals, both game-winners, in 2012.
Markey was a starter on the Bishop defense in 2012.
Ohio Wesleyan finished the season with a 6-11-1 record. The Bishops finished seventh in the NCAC championship race with a 3-5-0 conference mark.
Magnificat High School will be holding its youth basketball “CYO Day” Dec. 12. It will be an action packed day for all CYO basketball players and coaches, including food, prizes and fun. The day will also feature three girls basketball games, with the Blue Streaks hosting Lorain High School.
