By Kevin Kelley

The Bowling Green State University Men’s Chorus will present a concert of sacred and secular music at Dover Congregational United Church of Christ at 8 p.m. Friday. Admission is free, although a free-will offering will be collected.

The varied concert program spans from Renaissance music to doo-wop, from Britten to barbershop, and from German partsongs to spirituals. Concert highlights will include Britten’s “The Ballad of Little Musgrave,” Schubert’s “Die Nacht,” Gjeilo’s “Ubi Caritas et Amor,” Cobb’s “And Draw Her Home with Music,” motets by Tallis and Handl, and spirituals by Moses Hogan.

Hailed as “America’s Finest Singing Machine,” the BGSU Men’s Chorus has a long-standing tradition of excellence and has held the honor of performing with distinction at regional and national choral and music education conferences. The Chorus is an auditioned ensemble open to all male students at BGSU, and it includes students from a wide variety of majors. The 70-voice touring chorus is conducted by Timothy Cloeter.

Dover Congregational UCC is located at 2239 Dover Center Road, Westlake.
