Westlake police are asking for information on the disappearance of an 82-year-old man from a Center Ridge Road nursing home.
William “Sonny” Tichenor apparently walked away from the Life Care Center, located at 26520 Center Ridge Road, sometime after 1:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, police said. Life Care Center was formerly known as the Oakridge Home.
Westlake police Capt. Guy Turner told West Life that police are working on the assumption that Tichenor has left the immediate area. Tichenor, who suffers from dementia, had recently spoken about visiting a relative in West Virginia, or traveling to Cleveland or New Orleans, Turner explained.
Tichenor is described as a white man, 5-foot, 9 inches in height, 215 pounds, blue eyes, white hair, with a tattoo of a woman’s name on his left forearm. He was wearing a light blue starter shirt, blue jeans, a jacket and moccasins.
Anyone with information is asked to notify the Westlake Police Department at 440-871-3311 or one’s local law enforcement agency.
UPDATE 12:10 PM THURSDAY, NOV. 8: William Tichenor was located Wednesday night in Canton by that city’s police department, Westlake police Capt. Guy Turner said. He is in good health and has been transported back to the Life Care Center on Center Ridge Road by Westlake police. He apparently took a cab to Canton Tuesday night, Turner said.
