The U16 MC Madness “White” fast pitch tournament softball team, based out of Brunswick, recently took second-place at the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) Eastern tournament held in York, Pa.

The tournament had a field of 64 teams, from as far away as Delaware and Georgia.

“These young ladies showed a lot of heart and determination and fought to the bitter end,” assistant coach Matt Runyon said. “Although they didn’t bring the championship back to the state of Ohio, it surely wasn’t due to their lack of heart, grit and effort. The coaching staff and parents could not be more proud of this special group of young ladies.”

While the team did not win this tournament, it did win two other college showcase tournaments this summer, including the Buckeye Showdown in Columbus, where there was a field of 96 teams.

With the runner up finish in Pa., the team is now eligible for the ASA-USA National tournament next summer in California.
