The Rosewood Grill, the seventh restaurant owned by Cleveland-based Hospitality Restaurants, recently opened in Strongsville’s Plaza at South Park shopping center.
Hospitality Restaurants, formed in 1991 by lifelong friends Kareem “Kay” Ameen, David Hale and George Schindler, owns the Cabin Club in Westlake and Salmon’s Dave’s in Rocky River. The company’s other restaurants are the Blue Point Grille in the Warehouse District and the Thirsty Parrot in the Gateway neighborhood, Delmonico’s in Independence and a second Rosewood Grill in Hudson.
The Hudson restaurant, opened in 2009, has proven to be so popular that Hospitality Restaurants decided to replicate the concept on the West Side. “Building on the phenomenal success of our Hudson location, it just made sense,” Schindler explained. The Rosewood Grill offers sophisticated yet casual decor and an approachable menu featuring more than 20 dinner choices under $20.
Located across from South Park Mall, the new Rosewood Grill features an open-kitchen design, exposed-flame stone hearth oven, a 175-seat dining room and adjoining bar. “The energy created in the kitchen transcends the entire space, giving it a theaterlike atmosphere,” Schindler said. “It’s a sensory experience, watching the kitchen in action.” The Strongsville restaurant has a covered outdoor patio, an adjacent landscaped terrace with couches and rocking chairs, and a 20-seat curved fire pit for relaxing before or after dinner.
Executive Corporate Chef Shawn Cline modeled Strongsville’s menu after that of the Hudson location. “Our success has been created by featuring wholesome, all-American dishes that are freshly prepared highlighting the finest seasonal ingredients available. It’s a winning recipe that we simply won’t stray from,” Cline noted. Some of the featured appetizers are crisp calamari with fried banana peppers, tuna tartare in wonton cups, baked spinach and artichoke dip and deviled eggs made with whole grain mustard and bacon. Entrees include cedar-planked salmon, lobster ziti, herb-crusted Great Lakes walleye, baby back ribs, thick-cut pork chops and certified Angus Rosewood sirloin strip steak with cabernet reduction.
Flatbread pizzas are baked in the 575-degree stone hearth oven. Meal-sized salads are Oriental chicken, fire-grilled salmon over mixed greens with artichokes and shrimp and quinoa. The menu includes a variety of half-pound burgers as well as a prime rib French dip, beer-battered cod sandwich and house-made veggie burger. The wine list features 25 international offerings. Craft beers and cocktails like the Rosewood Cosmo, Moscow Mule and Noir Manhattan are also available.
The restaurant employs 50 people for dinner service, but Schindler said they will have about 75 employees once they are open for lunch. Dinner is served daily at 5 p.m., and weekday happy hour begins at 3 p.m. Lunch service is slated for September.
