CALLING ALL ARTISTS: Applications are now being accepted for the 2011 Rocky River Arts Festival, to be held Sept. 17 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Detroit Road. Artists who wish to participate are asked to submit a brief resume or art background, and a description of processes and materials used.
An application, found at www.rrcity.com must accompany a CD/DVD or prints of at least three examples of artwork. (These images will be kept on file, but not returned.) There is a $50 booth fee, and checks can be made payable to “Rocky River Parks and Recreation Foundation.”

SOMETHING’S FISHY: The bait shop at Bradstreet’s landing has been leased and is now open for business. Various kinds of bait, from worms to minnows will be offered, as well as a limited selection of snacks and cold drinks.
CLASS REUNION: Members of Rocky River High School’s Classof 1961 are planning their 50th reunion, to be held Sept. 16-18.
The festivities will start with a meet and greet at The Pub on Friday night and will continue on Saturday morning with a tour of the high school, Lolly theTrolley tour through the city and a stop at the Wine Bar. Memories will berekindled with dinner and dancing at the Westwood Country Club, the site of the class prom. Sunday will feature brunch at Market Restaurant.
The 1961 class reunion committee includes Don Kuehn, Jean “Tootsie” Howell Gilbert, Myra Merrill Kasper, Sue Depner O’Neill, Barbara Illenberger Frase, James Napier, Craig Miller and Sharon O’Grady Pfaff. NEW LIBRARY OFFICERS: The Friends of Rocky River Public Library recently elected new officers. They are Therese Rutt, president; Susan Gallagher, vice president; Karen Kelly-Mickey, treasurer; Krista Carte, recording secretary; and Sandy Wright, corresponding secretary. The newly elected president has served as vicepresident and chairwoman of the hospitality committee and has been active with the Friends since 2005.
The library’s Women’s Committee’s new officers are Ronna-Jean Gedeon, president; Pat Santa-Emma, vice president; Ruth Nowicky, treasurer; Suzanne Lydrickson, assistant treasurer; Betsy Roth, recording secretary; and Carol Klomfas, corresponding secretary.
