Fairview Park Chatter – June 29, 2011

GARDEN TOUR: The Fairview Park Garden Club’s 2011 garden tour, “Beyond the Garden Gate,” will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 9.

Organizers Pat Longoria and Danielle Sundberg, along with a committee, have included seven unique gardens plus the Fairview Park Community Garden on this year’s tour.

The seven gardens each has their own distinct features, said Garden Club member Ann Kreps. Two of the gardens back up to the Metroparks; one includes winding garden paths full of native Ohio plants and perennials and an extended deck overlooking the Metroparks, she said. The other has many great features, including a unique butterfly garden in the shape of a butterfly.

The other gardens showcase features such as koi ponds, stoned patios and outdoor entertainment areas, outstanding container gardens, long garden rooms, rain barrels and composting gardening.

The tour will begin in the basement of Fairview Park City Hall, 20777 Lorain Road, where programs and maps will be distributed. Several crafters and refreshments will be on site.

Tickets are $15 advance sale and $20 day of the tour – rain or shine. Tickets are available at Emerald Necklace Inn, PJ’s Day Spa, Gift Hut, Options Salon and Spa, Wine Styles and Plant Crafters. Tickets may also be purchased by PayPal online at

The 2011 Fairview Park Garden Club garden tour is sponsored by the Fairview Shopping Center Merchants Association.
